(Union Of) Uranus...

Great band. But they always went by plain old Uranus and by Union Of Uranus sometimes. Did they just hate the latter? I kind of get the feeling that that might be the case. Anyways, I have been looking for a cheap copy of one of these discographies forever, and while my searches bore no fruit, at least cheaply; Discogs had a fairly decently priced one, so I went for it. This album was put out by that old label, the Great American Steak Religion, which turned into Witch Hunt, which turned into Feral Ward, and now resides in Portland Oregon. These guys were a total mystery to me, very little information on them, I knew that one of the guys in this band was also a member of the legendary (even when they were around!), His Hero Is Gone, but that was about it. Uranus played a brand of hardcore that is long extinct nowadays, the beginnings of that emo-but not wimpy hardcore. You know what I mean; screamed vocals, guitar harmonics, vague lyrics, the whole deal. Uranus also incorporated a little bit of a galloping metal sound in there sound as well, making it a bit more distinct for the time. As a matter of fact, I think other bands started taking notice of their sound and meshing it with their sound as well. Bands like Drift, Jonah, etc...Uranus is a great band, I forgot how much I liked them, this was totally worth the wait, if you want a full on DIY project, from a time when hardcore seemed fairly exciting, look no further than (Union Of) Uranus.
