Three Mile Pilot...

I haven't listened to Three Mile Pilot in years, I liked them, they were pretty good, but not "hardcore" enough for me when I was younger. I wish grown up me could have a talk with younger me, slap some sense into him. Three Mile Pilot were kind of part of that San Diego sound, when all the major labels were scrambling to find the new Seattle, and were signing some pretty good bands like Rocket From The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, and even for a hot minute, Three Mile Pilot. This is their second album "The Chief Assassin To The Sinister", which is a marked improvement over the first album "Nà Vuccà Dò Lupù" which is just Bass, Drums, and singing. It's good, but not great like this one. I think "Chief Assassin" is their best album. There's a lot more going on here, the songs are more complex, guitars have been added, the recording is better sounding; skirting that line between raw and crystal clear, some bands just hit it and get lucky I suppose. I bought this specific copy on Amazon because it was the Geffen records version which has different cover art and extra songs on. It's not to hard find, but you gotta look for it. Most sellers and record stores don't really know the difference, but you get extra songs like "Inner Bishop", "Chenjusu", and the titanic "Midgard Serpent". If you're going to get a copy of this bands second album, make sure it's this one. Totally worth hunting down and making the effort for it. Apparently, Three Mile Pilot are sort of back together, and have a new album out, I would be very interested in hearing this new material. A great record, one of the forgotten gems of the 90's, deserves a place at the table with bands like Unwound, and Drive Like Jehu for making and creating a new sound that wasn't tied down to any genre, that owed no allegiances to a "scene".

10 songs makes the count at 17750....
