Tristeza's first album "Spine And Sensory" still gets a lot of derision from people. I've heard it called "easy listening emo" before. I think that's a harsh judgement though. It is pleasant and mellow, but if you pay enough attention, there's a lot of stuff going on, some intricate guitar work, and the production lets you listen to everything in minute detail. Tristeza would have been comparable to Sunny Day Real Estate, Evergreen, Mineral, etc, just with no vocals. This was an album I always had a dubbed copy of, but never actually owned myself. Copies are everywhere though, no challenge to hunt down this classic, under appreciated record. I found mine at Easy Street for $4. I love "When We Glow", their 8 minute burner. It takes a while to get going, but it's repetitive looping really sinks in. There's nothing groundbreaking here, just a really pleasurable album that still holds up through the test of time....10 songs makes the count at 17697...
