Necrophones...

Another notch in the Lungfish discography. I've been waiting for this one to drop in price, but it just seems to hang around that $6-8 mark. I finally just went for the copy that has been at Easy Street now for months for $8. I've actually never listened to this one, it's got that later period sound, super repetitive, slow, meandering tempos, Daniel Higgs' voice cackling; either you love it or you don't. To these ears, Lungfish are at the top of the Dischord artists, Sharing that honour with Fugazi, Shudder To Think, and Nation Of Ulysees as something truly unique. "Necrophones" is a bit more mellow than their previous album "The Unanimous Hour", but no less hypnotic. The rhythms really lull you into a trance, easily done when your dealing with three chords; two usually. I've almost got the entire dicography knocked off, I'm just missing "Indivisible" "Sound In Time" and "Pass And Stow", which has been remastered. I find I prefer later period Lungfish to their earlier stuff lately. "Necrophones" is just as good as "Feral Hymns" or "Love Is Love". I'm sad I never got the chanceto see Lungfish, especially the later stuff....

12 sngs makes the count at 17675...
