Back in the '77 explosion, all eyes were on the UK and the US, taking their cues from them, meanwhile, Austrailia had it's own thing going on with bands like AC/DC, Radio Birdman, X, The Scientists, and my personal favorite, The Saints. Really nothing more than a rediscovery of older values, rejecting the pompous, bloated rock stars of the time, The Saints are just meat and potatoes rock and roll. Their debut album, (I'm) Stranded is a raw, underproduced effort with plenty of straight ahead songs to make you wonder why the press seemed to pretty much ignore what was happening in Oceania. Strange. The bands over there were as good, in many cases WAY better than 99% of what was happening in the UK. The Saints went on to do a couple more albums, then kind of wound things up, and then came back again, like most bands do. I haven't listened to much of the post "(I'm) Stranded" Saints material, they did an album following this one called "Eternally Yours" that's pretty good, but I had heard snippets of things that I wasn't too crazy about. Knowing my ears, I have been decieved...
